MISSION & VISION

THE SCHOOL’S IDEOLOGY - A CALL FOR VALUES

Moral Values – Quality Education

Taman Rama School believes in Ahimsa (Non-Violence) and the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. We believe in working together and respecting one another.

“… If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other”

Mother Teresa

Taman Rama School places emphasis on developing students with strong academic abilities and good character. It is important that students have self-respect and are respectful and considerate to other members of the school community. We want our students to be confident individuals as well as to be responsible team players. We want them to have lively and enquiring minds and ask questions yet know when it is better to think, contemplate and problem-solve quietly.

Taman Rama School actively promotes students participation in school events and try to build self-confidence by encouraging students to take part in morning assemblies by reading and giving presentations to their peers.  We particularly want our senior students to be good role models for the junior students, and inspire them to follow their good behavior and example.

Taman Rama School believes wholeheartedly in the concepts of Pancasila and unity through diversity. We want our students to have awareness of world events, local concerns, appreciate growing up and studying in Indonesia.

Our School Philosophy

  1. Morals first, attention is paid to character building and the behaviour of the child.

  1. The education methodology adopted by the school is oriented on the lines of Non – Violence (Ahimsa – Anti Kekerasan). Non Violence in thought, speech and deed.

  1. Focus should be on appreciating the less significant but good things that the children do.

  1. Corporal punishment is not allowed at all. As a mode of punishment, students are sent to the school meditation room to contemplate their actions. The student is asked to contemplate in the meditation room of the school or asked to read a Holy book at home and reflect about the mistake he / she made and promise not to repeat it.

  1. Mahatma Gandhi believed that schools should be a community centre and foster a spirit of social service. Attention of the students is always directed to the suffering of the less privileged. To create social awakening, children are taken to visit orphanages – not only to give charity but companionship, to stage cultural performances, and to interact with less privileged children.

  1. The school involves students and parents in fund raising, as part of our collective social responsibility for the less fortunate.

  1. To develop personalities, students are invited to take part in co-curricular activities. They are encouraged to visit businesses and meet influential people.

  1. Taman Rama School is open to all religions. The school does not influence the religion of a child. Religion is taught by the respective teachers of the following religions: Islam, Christianity (Catholic and Protestant), Hinduism, Buddhism and Kong Hu Chu. In addition, morals are taught to develop universal human values or development through stories from the lives of great men and women all over the world.

  1. The five principles of Pancasila are applied, not only as a slogan but in practice too.

  1. To build one’s belief in God, prayer is held during the morning assembly before the students go to their respective classrooms. A thought for the week and news headlines for the day are read aloud in the morning assembly.
