HISTORY OF TAMAN RAMA SCHOOLS

The schools are managed by the Taman Mahatma Gandhi Foundation, the advisors of which are the same as those who pioneered the Gandhi Movement of Education with the National Plus and international schools in Jakarta from 1957 to 1993.

Taman Rama School, Denpasar – Taman Mahatma Gandhi Foundation was founded in Denpasar in 1999 at the request of many parents from Jakarta who arrived in Bali after the May 1998 ethnic riots in Jakarta. The school was the first private national plus school in Bali to offer subjects taught in English language as part of the national curriculum. Initially starting with primary classes the school developed quickly and now has classes from Kindergarten and Primary to Year 12 senior high school.

In 2003, to accommodate the growing number of students wishing to study overseas, Taman Rama School became affiliated with the University of Cambridge’s Cambridge International Examination programme and became the first registered Cambridge International Centre in Bali. We offered our first international examinations in 2005.

In 2007, due to continual growth and in recognition of successfully running a comprehensive Cambridge international programme, from Cambridge Primary (opened in 2005) to AS & A levels, Taman Rama School was awarded Cambridge International Fellowship Centre status.

Our goal is to prepare students for national and international examinations and assist their progress to universities in Indonesia or overseas. We work hard to develop students with strong academics and good character. Our students achieve highly at national and international levels and we have a sizeable alumni studying at top Indonesian universities and abroad.
